Jane's Jottings
Here in Sydney it feels as if the season is changing, with cooler evenings, nights, and early mornings. And lots of rain. Although our days are still warm and humid the feeling of change makes it easier to think of needing cooler weather clothing. The shops have been receiving Autumn stock for a few weeks now.
The start of a season is a good time to fill gaps in your wardrobe and add new items to re-invigorate your wardrobe. It's when you can often find more trans-seasonal items. Especially lighter weight layering pieces such as 3/4 sleeve tees, cardigans and medium weight jackets and coats.
I find that going into Autumn, even when it's still warm, I favour the darker clothes in my wardrobe. Whereas going into Spring I'm reaching for the lighter and brighter colours, even if the weather is still cold, it makes me feel warmer weather is on its way.
I know I say this every change of fashion season, but its worth repeating: Do please review your wardrobe for the new season before buying new season clothes. Remind yourself of what you already have. Check its condition and fit. This is a particularly important step if you do often find you have repeats of items and are bored with your current wardrobe.
Use my round-up of the new season's fashions (see below) to see if you can style clothes you already have in new ways and then pick a few new pieces that work back with what you already have.
I do have a few dates left between now and early May if you'd like my help with reviewing your wardrobe and shopping. Simply reply to this email to let me know. If you're in Sydney I can help you in-person. If you're elsewhere I may be able to help you online, let me know if you'd like me to phone you for a short call to discuss your needs (no charge).
Enjoy this month's Style Snippets. Yours in style
